2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
The Malk 2018 Cabernet offers a quintessential Stags Leap cabernet, deep garnet-purple with intense concentration and a layered intensity. Aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, dark raspberry, and black cherry give way to notes of cedar, dark chocolate and graphite. The 2018 vintage provided a classic Napa growing season, with winter rains providing sufficient ground water resulting in healthy and balanced yields and moderate temperatures allowing the fruit to ripen evenly, late into the season. This resulted in a cab that is fruit forward, with wonderfully balanced tannin and a depth and finesse that will provide the drinker pleasure for years to come.

A soil-forward nose of tarweek, sun-warmed stones and dried sage. Ripe but refined on the palate, successfully showing off the finesse typical of Stags Leap District. The finish wraps up similarly to how the nose introduced the wine, with a stony, gritty and rustic minerality.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is another gorgeous wine from Malk, a small estate in Stags Leap that continues to improve. Inky dark fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and white flowers all open in the glass. Deep and pliant, with striking aromatic intensity, the 2018 is a winner.

Coming from the cooler Stags Leap District, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon sports a deep purple color as well as vibrant aromatics of blue fruits, sappy green herbs, violets, and cedar. With medium to full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant texture, and nicely integrated tannins, this is an outstanding, well-made Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years or so.
